Polyaluminum Chloride PAC-26 (1327-41-9)

Polyaluminum Chloride PAC-26 is a medium-basicity grade of PAC with 26% Al₂O₃ content. It is a yellow powder coagulant that provides effective turbidity and color removal for drinking water and wastewater treatment, offering a good balance of charge neutralization and floc formation performance.

The three grades differ primarily in Al₂O₃ content and basicity. PAC-26 has 26% Al₂O₃ with medium basicity, offering balanced performance for general water treatment applications. PAC-28 has 28% Al₂O₃ with medium-high basicity, providing faster settling. PAC-30 has 30% Al₂O₃ with high basicity, delivering the best performance for difficult-to-treat waters but at a higher unit cost.

PAC-26 is well suited for surface water sources with moderate turbidity and organic content. It performs effectively in municipal drinking water plants, industrial process water treatment, and general wastewater applications where a cost-effective, balanced coagulant is required.

PAC-26 powder is dissolved in water to prepare a liquid dosing solution, typically at 5-10% concentration. The solution is then metered into the treatment stream at a dosage rate determined by jar testing. Compared to alum (aluminium sulfate), PAC-26 requires lower dosage, produces denser flocs that settle faster, works over a wider pH range, consumes less alkalinity so less pH adjustment is needed, and maintains better performance in cold water conditions. These advantages translate to lower chemical costs, reduced sludge volume, and more stable treatment operation.
