Polyaluminum Chloride PAC-30 (1327-41-9)

Polyaluminum Chloride PAC-30 is the highest-basicity grade of PAC with 30% Al₂O₃ content. It is a yellow powder coagulant that delivers maximum coagulation efficiency, producing exceptionally dense and fast-settling flocs. It is the preferred choice for high-turbidity water, cold water treatment, and demanding industrial applications.

PAC-30 has the highest Al₂O₃ content (30%) and basicity of the three standard grades. Compared to PAC-26 (26%, medium basicity) and PAC-28 (28%, medium-high basicity), PAC-30 delivers the fastest settling, best cold water performance, and greatest sludge reduction. It is the premium option for difficult-to-treat waters, though at a higher unit cost.

PAC-30 maintains coagulation efficiency at low temperatures where conventional coagulants like alum lose effectiveness. Its ultra-high basicity and pre-hydrolyzed aluminium species are less affected by the slower reaction kinetics in cold water, ensuring consistent turbidity removal even in winter conditions.

Compared to standard PAC grades, PAC-30 can reduce sludge volume by up to 30%. The denser flocs produced by PAC-30 contain less bound water, resulting in higher cake solids after dewatering and lower overall sludge disposal costs. This makes PAC-30 particularly economical for applications where sludge handling is a significant operational expense.

PAC-30 is best suited for drinking water plants treating high-turbidity source water, industrial wastewater with heavy solids loading, cold climate water treatment operations, and sludge dewatering where maximizing cake solids and minimizing sludge volume are critical. It is also the recommended choice for applications where treatment throughput is a bottleneck and faster settling can increase plant capacity.
