Polycarboxylate Ether PCE Powder (Water-Reducing & Slump-Retaining Type)

This is a dual-function polycarboxylate ether superplasticizer in spray-dried powder form that combines high water reduction with extended slump retention. Its molecular structure features controlled-release side chains that provide sustained cement dispersion over 2-4 hours, making it ideal for ready-mix concrete requiring long transport times or high-temperature placement conditions.

The polymer is designed with side chains that are initially protected or shielded. Over time, these side chains gradually hydrolyze in the alkaline cement environment, exposing additional carboxylate groups that continue dispersing cement particles. This controlled-release mechanism compensates for the natural slump loss that occurs as cement hydrates, maintaining workability for 2-4 hours without the need for re-dosing at the job site.

Standard water-reducing PCE provides high initial dispersion but may experience significant slump loss over time, especially in hot weather or with certain cement types. The slump-retaining type extends workability for 2-4 hours while maintaining the same water reduction performance. It eliminates the need for on-site slump adjustment with additional water or admixture, improving concrete quality consistency and reducing rejection rates.

This product is particularly valuable for ready-mix concrete with long haul times, large continuous pours where consistent workability is critical, high-temperature summer concreting where slump loss is accelerated, self-compacting concrete requiring extended flowability, and projects in remote locations where re-dosing at the job site is impractical or impossible.

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area in tightly sealed containers away from moisture. The powder is hygroscopic. For liquid application, dissolve slowly in water with gentle agitation to a typical concentration of 10-40%. Recommended dosage is 0.1-0.3% by weight of cementitious material, adjusted based on required slump retention time and ambient temperature. Trial mixes are essential for optimizing dosage. Under proper dry storage, shelf life is 12-24 months.
